About our Founder
Before launching Talgo Education almost a decade ago, Savindri Talgodapitiya made a name for herself as a stellar academic and professional, specialising in the field of Financial Mathematics.
Savindri is a highly qualified mathematician, holding a Master’s in Mathematics (Honours) degree from the University of St Andrews, UK and an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Leeds, UK. She has lent her expertise to several prestigious research projects, including working as a Programmer at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, where she was part of the team that helped launch the German data centre for NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) mission.
After graduating, Savindri continued to excel in various management capacities in the fields of Quantitative Finance and Sustainability. During this phase of her career, she would work as a part-time math tutor, having both the knack and the passion for teaching. Despite her outstanding record in the corporate sector, it was clear that teaching was her true calling. In 2016, she became a full-time private tutor in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where she was based before she moved to Singapore in January 2022.
As a tutor, Savindri focused on teaching IGCSE and A/L curricula (both Edexcel and Cambridge) and the IB curriculum. She also taught UoL undergraduate mathematics modules to university students. In her time at Talgo Education, she has successfully mentored students of varying abilities and watched them excel in their examinations, with most of them scoring A – A* grades.
Savindri has made it her life’s work to impart the same passion and respect that she has always had for mathematics to every new generation of students.
